Windsor, Ont. –Casino Windsor is opening its newest restaurant, Neros gourmet steakhouse on Thursday, June 14. For the first time outside of the United States, guests can experience this signature restaurant, drawing inspiration from its award-winning namesake in Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.

Over the past six months, the space that once housed the Riverside Grille next to the hotel lobby, has been renovated into a gorgeous new venue that incorporates modern design elements with traditional steakhouse concepts. Neros encompasses 5,600 square feet and accommodates up to 184 guests in a variety of semi-private seating arrangements, with spectacular views of the Detroit skyline. Rich, warm colours and textures soften the clean edges of contemporary furnishings and décor, making it the ideal place for a romantic meal, a business get-together or a special celebratory gathering.

Other features include an expanded, glass-enclosed wine cellar that houses an extensive collection of over 1,000 bottles of premium wines and champagne. Certified sommelier William Predhomme has trained staff to advise customers in making the perfect selection to compliment their meal. The cellar can also host up to 14 guests at the Chef’s Table where a specially prepared tasting menu is served. For business meetings or any special occasion, there is a Private Dining room that can be reserved for up to 24 guests with gorgeous views of the riverfront.

Orchestrating Neros’ talented culinary team is Chef de Cuisine David Prantera. A leader in Casino Windsor’s kitchens since 1998, Prantera says his focus is to deliver an unforgettable dining experience like no other in the area. “It is critical that we use the best products and offer the finest service imaginable. The bar has risen to match our Vegas counterpart and Casino Windsor is up for the challenge,” he said

Chef de Cuisine Sean Griffin from Neros at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, arrived in Windsor last week to assist in training the casino staff for the restaurant’s opening. Griffin said, “Our goal is to exceed expectations on every level. Guests’ meals will be of the highest quality and convince them that their favorite steakhouse is now taking second place to Neros.” Griffin has been with Neros Caesars Palace for three years and is touted as one of the rising star chefs in Las Vegas.

Neros’ signature menu mirrors the same philosophy found in the décor, mixing classic flavors with a modern inventive approach that will pleasantly surprise guests. Specialties include dry-aged USDA prime steaks like the mouthwatering 32 oz. Rib Eye Lollipop Cut, a large selection of fresh oysters on the half shell and a variety of delectable entrées. The addition of upscale table-side service on select menu items offers a superior level of sophistication and class, true to the Caesars name.

Opening Thursday, June 14, 2007, Casino Windsor’s Neros will be open Thursday through Monday, 6 p.m. to midnight. For reservations, call 1-800-991-8888 or (519) 258-7878.
