FREE SoapFest and Mardi Gras events

Windsor, Ontario, 2/7/2005

Windsor, Ont. – Star struck fans are invited to meet their favourite daytime soap opera stars at Casino Windsor’s first FREE Soap Festival on Sunday, February 20. Stars from top-rated shows General Hospital and Young and the Restless will be in the Promenade Ballroom from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to meet their fans and answer their questions about the show, their characters and what’s next in their careers (please note only one session per person).

Emmy-award winning General Hospital first aired in 1963 and has had a loyal following ever since. Fans will be thrilled to meet two of the show’s youngest, up-and-coming stars:

Natalia Livingston plays Emily Quartermaine, a member of Port Charles’ most infamous family. Natalia took over the popular role in April 2003. She has had roles in major movies like “Big Fat Liar” starring Frankie Muniz.

Shaun Benson plays Dr. Steven Lars Webber, the son of Jeff and Heather Webber. Shaun Benson hails from Guelph, Ontario and graduated from George Brown, Toronto. Shaun first appeared in the critically acclaimed television show “The Associates” and opposite Harrison Ford in the film “K-19: The Widowmaker”.

The Young and the Restless has been the top-rated soap opera on daytime television for over 16 years, drawing millions of loyal viewers. Die hard fans will meet:

Jeanne Cooper, who plays Katherine Chancellor, the grand dame of Genoa city. Jeanne Cooper joined the Y & R cast in 1973 and has been nominated five times for Leading Actress. Her television credits include appearances on Ben Casey, Perry Mason and opposite her son Corbin Bernsen on L.A. Law.

Christian Jules LeBlanc, who plays Michael Baldwin, a slick lawyer with a bad reputation with the women of Genoa. Christian originally joined the Y & R cast in 1991. He has credits on stage, film and television with roles in Perry Mason and Cheers.

Seating is limited for this FREE event and will be on a first come, first served basis. Customers need only show their Players Prestige card to enter the ballroom. Those who are not yet a member can sign up at the Players Prestige Booth on the main gaming level for their FREE membership.

Also, don’t miss out on Casino Windsor’s FREE “Mardi Gras Madness” event on Tuesday, February 8 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Enjoy a taste of this popular New Orleans’ celebration with live Mardi-Gras style roaming entertainment, brightly coloured beads and complimentary paczki and coffee on the Atrium level (while supplies last).
